Join Rancho Alegre Radio and AustinVida (www.austinvida.com) for another fantastic edition of our Tejano-Conjunto Tardeada series at ONE-2-ONE BAR.
You won't want to miss Sunday August 13th when we bring the legendary Santiago Jimenez Jr. to the stage at the stellar south Lamar venue.
Santiago really needs no introduction, but here's one anyway. The son of Conjunto pioneer Don Santiago Jimenez and brother of international superstar Flaco Jimenez, "El Chief de San Antonio" has been entertaining audiences since the late 1950s and is noted for carrying on his father's original, traditional style.
Santiago has recorded over 80 albums, has appeared in music documentaries like "Chulas Fronteras" and "This Ain't No Mouse Music," a past recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, and is was honored with the National Medal of Arts in 2016 from President Obama.
Austin audiences typically see Santiago on a lineup at a festival, but not on August 13th. He's got the whole two hours to himself! Anyone who's ever been to his legendary residency at San Antonio's Carnitas Uruapan can tell you that two hours up close and personal with El Chief doing what he does best is something to treasure.
$7 cover, doors open at 5:15pm, plenty of free parking, kids under 18 allowed with adult, music from 6-8pm.
Come see what everyone's talking about.
