Instruction for Rifle Merit Badge.

The Shooting Sports Areas have been developed at Rancho Alegre to expose Scouts to the safety and mastery of Rifle, Shotgun and Archery.  Whether working on the Rifle Shooting Merit Badge, competing for the High Shooter of the Week, NRA awards or just learning a new skill, All Scouts are welcome.  Scouters are invited to test their skills at the Scoutmaster’s Blanket Shoot. Throughout the week, the Shooting Sports Director will teach basic rifle safety and handling.

Shotgun Shooting is available to Scouts who are 13 years old or older.  Be sure to check with the Range Director for times!  (There is a charge of $.25 per shot.  Tickets are available at the Trading Post.)

Black Powder Rifle Shooting – Step back in time to the days of old, the muzzleloader was the firearm of the pioneer, the trapper and hunter.  Experience the thrill of loading each shot with powder, patch and ball.  Rancho Alegre is proud to include black powder shooting again this year for Scouts 14 years old or older.  (There is a charge of $.25 per shot.
